Skateskool Inline Skating Curriculum

Basic Level:-
Students in this level will learn about the equipment and have a better understanding about inline skating.  Students will also learn to stand, walk and subsequently roll on skates with additional exercises to reinforce the feeling of rolling on skates.  Thereafter, students will learn to stop and turn.  At the end of this level, students will be able to skate, stop and turn confidently.

Basic Intermediate Level:-
Students in this level will learn to roll faster.  Exercises involving balancing on one foot and rolling on the toe of ones skates will strengthen the muscles involved in skating.  Students will be taught intermediate stopping and turning skills.   Students will also be introduced to basic slalom skills.  At the end of this level, students will be able to skate faster and execute sharper turns. 

Intermediate Level:-
Students in this level will start to learn the skills to be able to skate competitively.  Speed will be emphasised and advanced turning skill such as the cross overs will be taught.  Students will also learn advance stopping skills such as the spin stop and t stop.  At the end of this level, students will be able to skate much faster and more gracefully. 

Intermediate Advance Level:-
Students in this level will be learning how to skate backwards including stopping whilst skating backwards.  At the end of this level, students will be able to switch from forward skating to backwards skating with ease and will also be able to stop confidently whilst skating backwards.

Advance Level A and Advance Level B:-
Students in this level will be learning advance skills in preparation of competitive skating sports such as speed skating, marathons, inline hockey and slalom.  This will entail advance turning, stopping and backwards skating skills.  At the end of this level, students will be able to start getting involved in competitive skating sports.


At the end of each level, there will be a test to ensure that students are competent and ready to advance to the next level.  A certificate to certify the satisfactory completion of each level will be presented to students who pass.
